Program Cost

Payment for the 1 or 2 weeks will be made in two parts. The first payment is the UNI registration fee and will be due by April, 1, 2005 to the UNI Study Abroad Office.. The second payment is the On-site fee which will be due in Norwegian Kroner when the workshop begins in Norway. It will be possible to change US finds at a local bank near the workshop location.

Non-credit Registration Costs

If you are joining the course for 1 or 2 weeks and do not wish to register for university credit, the estimated cost will be:

1 week (7 days) $1328

2 weeks (14 days) $2228

Credit Registration Costs

If you are joining the course for the two weeks and wish to register for 2 hours of university credit, the estimated cost will be:

2 weeks (14 days) $2377 (Includes UNI Study-Abroad Credit registration)

On-site Fee $1803 Due in May, 2005 in Norway (12,500 Norwegian Kroner)

The On-site Fee for all participants can be brought in dollars, in traveler's checks, or a bank check and it can be converted to Norwegian Kroner in Åmot. We will have opportunities to bank and shop in this nearby community. The On-site Fee includes workshop instruction, housing (double occupancy), family-style traditional evening meals daily, local transportation and excursions.

These costs include lodging for 7 to 14 days (double occupancy), local transportation, full days and evenings of course activities, and traditionally prepared dinners at Mjonoy Handcraft and Cultural Center. Material costs are extra, as are travel expenses getting to Vinje. There may be small additional fees for admission to arts events and artists' studios.

Expenses not included in registration fees: Airfare, Travel expences getting to Vinje, international health insurance (available through UNI Study Abroad Office), breakfast and lunch costs (each cabin has a full kitchen), and material costs for your garment, as this will vary with your garment design.

Material costs will be paid at the end of the course and will vary depending on the yardage required for your garment design. Approximate materials cost for the vadmel cloth will be NKr 250 (about $34.00) per meter.
